Facelift at Duggal Plastic Surgery

Facelift, or rhytidectomy, improves the signs of aging by repositioning sagging skin around the jowls, jaw, and neck to restore a more youthful contour. The goal of a face and neck lift is to rejuvenate the face without looking tight or unnatural. This is done through inconspicuous incisions around the hairline and behind the ears.

A facelift addresses the lower face, jawline, and neck. This is often combined with procedures to improve the eyelids, or blepharoplasty, and procedures to address the midface or cheeks. Facial fat grafting is frequently done at the same time as a facelift to restore volume to the cheeks and lips which is lost as we age. Skin resurfacing to remove fine lines and wrinkles can also be combined with a facelift.

Patients often wonder when they might be “ready” for a facelift. This personal decision is based on each patient’s individual anatomy and goals, and has nothing to do with a particular age. During your consultation with Dr. Duggal, you will be able to discuss all options for facial rejuvenation and what timing could be best depending on your goals.

A facelift is done under general anesthesia, and may require an overnight stay when combined with other procedures. You may resume light activity the following day but may take 1-2 weeks to resume normal activity. Swelling and bruising for the first 1-2 weeks is normal, and results will improve and refine over the next 6-8 weeks.

Facial rejuvenation does not just mean a facelift.  There are many other surgical and non-surgical options which can help you look younger and more refreshed, while always making sure you still look like YOU.
